Graham Benn, runs DIY Solutions on Cavendish Street and is vice chair of Keighley Town Centre Association.
Mr Benn is urging town-centre traders to grasp “a golden opportunity” and support Keighley’s Business Improvement District bid.
BID status would generate more than £1 million of extra investment over five years. It is an investment scheme where local businesses collectively agree on the priorities and how to invest their money to benefit themselves, their staff and their customers.
Plans include a £494,000 spend on marketing and promotion, £213,000 on safety and security, £276,000 on business support and £160,000 on signs, car parking and transport improvements.
“This would mean a huge amount to Keighley and is a golden opportunity for businesses to say what they need,” said Mr Benn.
KTCA is currently canvassing support amongst the town’s businesses for a ‘yes’ vote during the ballot, which is being held this month.
