Hello and welcome to the new Discover Keighley website, powered by Keighley BID.

What’s a BID when it’s at home?

The BID - or Business Improvement District – is a democratically elected, business-led, organisation. We exist to promote and advance businesses in Keighley Town Centre, making our town a better place to visit, live, and do business in.

BIDs are funded primarily by a levy on businesses in the operational area. They operate in five year terms, in which time they have to demonstrate how they are making a difference before seeking further terms.

There are already more than 200 BIDs operating all over the UK, including local towns like Skipton, Otley and Ilkley. Each BID takes on different projects, working on the issues that local businesses care about most.

It’s a yes from me!

Keighley BID won the approval of a majority of businesses in the town centre in late 2015, and the first half of 2016 has been a busy time for us, working to deliver the BID business plan’s goals in four key areas, established after consultation with local businesses, they are:

  • Marketing and Promotion
  • Safety and Security
  • Backing Business
  • Ease of Access

Bringing visitors to Keighley

The BID will play a major role in organising and supporting events in the town centre, as well as producing Town Centre guides and other promotional material, like this website!

We want to make more people, tourists and local residents alike, aware of the fantastic range of opportunities that Keighley has to offer.

Coming Up…

Over the summer holidays there are lots of events designed to keep kids and parents entertained. Keighley by the Sea kicks off on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July, in partnership with the town council, with donkey rides, Punch & Judy shows and lots more on offer on Church Green.

Monday 1st August, Yorkshire Day, will see Pulse FM broadcasting live from the town centre, with live music, dance, competitions and face painting in the town centre. All these events coincide with the main attraction – the indoor beach at Airedale Shopping Centre, which will be in action from Saturday 30th July to Sunday 28th August.

Working together for a better town

By pooling our resources and working together, businesses in Keighley can take on more ambitious projects: training schemes, marketing, security projects and much more. Keighley BID can act as an authoritative voice in matters concerning the town centre, ensuring effective representation for businesses both large and small.

We look forward to meeting and working with as many of you as possible in the future, as we celebrate and improve on what Keighley has to offer.
